We did do a few UK weekends away this year but only 2 international trips.
For their Christmas and Birthday presents we arranged to take my brother (Luke) sister (Sam) and her husband (Andy) to Dublin for a weekend in May.
On Thursdays Carl plays football... 2 days before we fly I receive this

Carl had broken his ankle!!!

Thankfully he was given an open cast which meant he was able to fly. I called Ryanair who were helpful and helped me arrange assistance and wheelchairs at the airports for him.
Unfortunately the Luas (tram system) near where we were staying was completely down for the weekend so we ended up using a fair few taxis. Sometimes a couple of us walked and the others taxied so we weren't always getting 2.
The weekend was mostly spent with bar crawling and leaving Carl in bars whilst we went off to see the sights.
Carl was in his cast for a lot of the spring / early summer, originally they were worried they may need to operate! It was a long few months of looking after him and having to go to various appointments so as soon as the cast was off I booked us another trip...

We flew from Luton with Ryan Air Sat 20th - Tue 23rd Aug. We stayed at the First hotel Kong Frederick.
We chose the earliest flight 08:35 to arrive 11:25. Unfortunately the flight was delayed by 90mins. On arrival we hopped onto the train for the journey into the city centre which is supposed to take 11 mins. Unfortunately there was a failure and it ended up taking 3 hours. There wasn't really any info provided and there was no air conditioning and the windows could not be opened. The train conductor seemed to be the only Danish person who couldn't speak English but luckily we had 2 chaps in our compartment who were happy to translate for us. Eventually another train came and we transferred.
2016 was not our lucky year!
On arrival we headed straight to our hotel to check in then headed out to find some food.
It was Pride weekend and it was packed on the streets
We were worried this meant everywhere was packed. The first place we came across was Hard Rock which was thankfully quiet inside and we were able to enjoy some much needed cold drinks and food!
We then had a short walk to Tivoli where we spent the afternoon/evening. Apparently Walt based Disneyland off this park
I loved the dancing to the jazz band. I could see the Disney connection for sure.
I had booked a 2 day Hop on Hop off bus tour. I had also booked a beer tasting experience at Carlsberg which was our first destination this morning.
Carlsberg definitely tastes better in Denmark.
Next we had a choice. Go back to the bus stop we got off the bus and wait about half an hour for the next one. Or walk for a little while and get to 2 bus stops on...we chose to walk.
We then caught the bus and headed to the coast to visit the tiny little mermaid
By the time we had strolled along the buses were done for the day and it was so nice anyway we decided to walk back
Copenhagen is not cheap so we did as the locals do and came back to Nyhavn later that evening to enjoy a can or 2 of beer bought from the shop.
We started the next day with some delicious pastries
Then it was onto the HoHo in the other direction
Then we headed across the river to a street food place for lunch and from there we walked onto Christiania
We were too late for the bus back so we hired some bikes to get back to the City Centre

We then found Hard Rock had 2 happy hours so we spent some time there with a great barman who was making us personalised cocktails, we strolled a bit.
It poured down this evening so we had an early night rather than getting soaked.
The following morning we hired bikes again to tour the city for an hour or so which we then dropped off at the train station. Thankfully no breaks down today and we were on our way home.
I really liked Copenhagen, not sure if it's somewhere we need to go back to. Perhaps if the Mickey boat leaves there on a cruise we want to do.
